Fall Blooming Asters

Asters are hardy, low-maintenance perennials that flourish throughout the summer and burst into vibrant blooms as other flowers begin to fade. These plants provide reliable fall color year after year and can withstand early frosts. They’re also a favorite food source for Monarch butterflies, which depend on their late-season nectar during migration.

Aster 'Grape Crush'

  • Color: Deep royal purple
  • Bloom Time: Late August to September
  • Height: 26-30 inches
  • Width: 44 inches
  • Light: Full Sun / Part Sun
  • Zone: 3-8

Enjoy vibrant purple blooms that attract pollinators and look stunning when paired with New Gold Yellow Lantana. To keep the plant bushy and prevent it from flopping, pinch it back from late spring until July 4th. Perfect for cutting and bringing indoors!

Aster 'Carmine Red'

  • Color: Magenta-red
  • Bloom Time: Late summer through mid-fall
  • Height: Compact and bushy
  • Light: Full Sun / Part Sun
  • Zone: 3-8

Kickin® Carmine Red Aster offers a dazzling display of red flowers, covering the plant completely for weeks. It’s great for containers or the front of borders, needing no extra care. The plant’s dense, green foliage makes it a lovely addition to fall gardens, and it's a magnet for butterflies.

Aster 'Oblongifolium'

  • Color: Blue/violet flowers with yellow centers
  • Bloom Time: Long-lasting fall blooms
  • Height: 2-3 feet
  • Spread: 3 feet
  • Light: Full Sun / Part Sun
  • Zone: 3-8

Aromatic Aster is a native wildflower with a balsam-like scent when its stems are crushed. It thrives in rocky, dry soils and is highly attractive to native bees and butterflies. This robust plant offers a profusion of large, showy blooms and is excellent for pollinator gardens.
